Vaernes Church, Stjordal

Vaernes Church, Stjordal

Here we see the Medieval Vaernes Church at Stjordal, just to the east of Trondheim. The church dates to 1085-1100 and was built in the Norwegian 'Long Church' style. It still has a medieval wooden roof, and although this picture doesn't show it, is whitewashed on the exterior.

Many thanks to Pauline Law for allowing us to post these pictures, which came from her father Charles Rendell's collection. He served with the service echelons for No. 170 Squadron and then No.129 Squadron, and took part in the post-war liberation of Norway
