Here we see a group of wounded US soldiers who have been evacuated from the Cherbourg front in a Tank Landing Ship - the vast open doors can be seen in the background. It is also noteworthy that the soldiers waiting to receive the wounded are African-Americans - at the time the US Army was segregated, and no Africa-Americans served as front line infantry on D-Day, although the segregated 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion did take part in the fighting.
