This picture probably shows a Chidori class torpedo boat from above. The wartime US Recognition magazine listed it as a Chidori-Otori class, with stats that would place it in the Chidori class - it was said to displace 600 tons, too low for either, but closer to the Chidori than the Otori. The Chidori class are also known as the Tomozuru class, after a member of the class that capsised soon after being launched, sparking an investigation into the weight of the superstructures of all Japanese warships.
