Tiger I 'smashed by Desert Air Force', Italy
Here we see a Tiger I that was knocked out by aircraft from the Desert Air Force, which kept that name throughout the campaign in Italy. This tank was also signed by General Freyberg, the commander of the New Zealand forces in Italy, and other pictures exist of him attaching similar signs to tanks. Note the New Zealand fern on the sign, which suggests this was an initiative by one of the New Zealand components of the DAF.
