General Stumpff signs surrender at Berlin
Here we see the Luftwaffe representive, General Hans-Jurgen Stumpff, signing the final German surrender in Berlin very early on 9 May 1945. Stumpff had commanded the air defence of Germany from early in 1944, and after the surrender was acting chief of staff of the Luftwaffe for a couple of weeks, until the Flensburg Goverment was dissolved on 23 May 1945.
