This picture shows the prototype Spitfire Mk.XII (DP845) in flight. This aircraft first flew as a Griffon powered Mk.IV, was then renamed as the Mk.XX to avoid confusion with the PR Type D after that was renamed as the PR Mk IV, then finally as the Mk.XII. This picture shows the clipped wings of the Mk.XII and the cannon in the wings.
