Here we see Soviet troops fighting in Lublin, a city about 100 miles east of Warsaw. The city fell to the Soviets on 24 July 1944, and within days had become the base of the pro-Soviet Polish Committee of National Liberation, better known in the west as the 'Lublin Poles'
