Here we see the cockpit of the Sopwith Salamander ground attack aircraft, seen partly through the small hole in the upper wing just above the pilot's seat. Note the small windscreen, and how far back into the cockpit the two machine guns protrude - so far that they had to be given padding to stop the pilot hitting the metal with his head!
