Smoke Screen on the Gari River, Fourth Battle of Cassino
Here we see a smoke screen being laid down to cover a bridge across the Gari River (the lower stretch of the Rapido, downstream from Cassino town), probably during the Fourth battle of Cassino. On the left is the rear of a Sherman tank, possibly a M4A3 which had a very slightly longer rear hull.
