Sherman Kangaroo preparing to cross River Soulevre
Here we see a Sherman Kangaroo in part of a column of vehicles preparing to cross the River Soulevre on their way towards Vire, which was one of the targets for Operation Bluecoat. The Kangaroo was an early armoured personnel carrier, in this case formed by taking the turret off a Sherman tank. The picture has been taken from behind the gun shield of a sizable artillery piece.
