Ruins of Pont L'Eveque
Here we see British troops passing through the ruins of Pont L'Eveque, close to the coast in Calvados, after a two day battle in August 1944 that caused a great deal of damage. The town is just inland from Deauvillle, and on one of the main roads heading east to the Seine, so was an important target for the troops advancing on the Allied left.
