These plans show the final US armoured cruisers, the Tennessee class of 1904-1906. They were similar in size to the Pennsylvania class, but carred a more effective armament of four 10in guns and sixteen 6in guns. Originally they were named after US States, but they were later renamed to free these names up for battleships. The US Navy didn't launch any more large cruisers until the Omaha class ships of 1920-24, large but lightly armed ships.
