US Patrol on Numa Numa Trail, Bougainville
Here we see a patrol of US troops resting somewhere on the Numa Numa trail, at the start of a patrol in the Laruma River area of Bougainville. The picture was published in the spring of 1944, just after the Japanese counterattack of March 1944, but was probably take between the initial fighting and that offensive.
