A side view of a Panzer III knocked out during fighting close to Medenine in Tunisia early in 1943. This is either a Ausf L or Ausf M - the main visual difference being the exhaust, out of sight on this picture, and the smoke launchers added to the side of the turret on the M, which may have been damaged in the fighting. This picture shows the extra spaced armour on the gun mantlet and the front of the superstructure, gives a glimpse of the round mount for the hull machine gun, and gives a very clear view of the road wheels and suspension
