Mule Train on Fifth Army Front, Italy, 1944
Here we see part of a mule train operating on the Fifth Army Front somewhere in Italy, probably during the Cassino campaign of 1944. The mountain terrain meant that the US army had to reintroduce mule trains, having only recently disbanded them as they mechanised.
