The original caption records that this picture shows Flt Sgt Smith in the nose of a Martin Baltimore, at RAF Tabora in Tanzania in February 1946. The Baltimore had a large glazed area in the nose, and this close-up picture gives us a good view of how crowded the area around the nose seat was.
Many thanks to Michael Hopkins for sending us these pictures, which came from his father's collection, and came towards the end of his RAF service, which lasted from August 1941 to November 1946.
