Parachutes on Drop Zone X, Market Garden
Here we see the parachutes of the 1st Parachute Brigade, 1st Airborne Division, as they were dropped on Drop Zone X on 17 September 1944 at the start of Operation Market Garden. The picture was taken by a reconnaissance Spitfire that was observing the start of the attack.
