Commander D.G.F.W MacIntyre on bridge of HMS Bickerton
Here we see Commander Donald G.F.W. MacIntyre, DSO and two bars (right), on the bridge of HMS Bickerton, a Captain class frigate which sank two U-boats, U-765 and U-269, before being badly damaged herself by U-354, and scuttled by HMS Vigilant. MacIntyre was a very succesful escort commander, safely escorting 1,098 out of 1,100 ships in the 28 convoys he escorted.
