Avro Lancaster over Pauillac, 4 August 1944
Here we see one of the Avro Lancasters that bombed the oil storage depots at Pauillac and Bec d'Ambes, north of Bordeaux, on 4 August 1944. Note that this is a daylight raid, a sign that the danger from German fighters had almost disappeared in this area.
