Kaibokan Type D from the Left

Here we see a Kaibokan Type D, the sixth class of ocean defence ships to be produced for the IJN, from the left. The Type D was similar to the Type C, but with a narrow funnel that was nearer to the superstructure. This view gives us a reasonable view of the rear of the ship, which ended in a fairly square stern. During the War the US Navy classified the Type D as the Kaibokan 2.
