Junkers Ju 52 in battle in Sicilian Straits
This picture shows an aerial battle in May 1943 in the Sicilian straits, with a formation of Junkers Ju 52s flying low in an attempt to escape from Allied aircraft during a late attempt to get supplies to Tunisia. Out of the 35 aircraft counted by the Allies, 25 were claimed, by a mix of B-25s and P-38s. One of the B-25s can be seen at the top left, as can the many bullet spashes.
