Hawker Hurricane of Royal Navy

Hawker Hurricane of Royal Navy

Here we see a Hawker Hurricane in Royal Navy service, somewhere in Italy. The only markings - Royal Navy 507 - don't provide enough detail to identify the aircraft. The lack of a mirror on the canopy suggests that this is a Hurricane Mk.I. It doesn't have the arrestor hook of most Sea Hurricanes.

This picture comes from the collection of Jim Tucker, who served with No.293 Squadron. Many thanks to his son-in-law Roger Bruton for sending us these pictures.
