HMS Westminster in 1940
Here we see the W class destroyer HMS Westminster after she had been converted into a WAIR anti-aircraft escort destroyer. In this role her pennant number was changed to L40, she was given new 4in guns in a dual purpose mount, and most of her deck superstructure was removed to give her AA guns a wider field of fire.
