Here we see the launch party for the Tribal class destroyer HMS Ghurka, launched at Hawthorn Leslie's Tyneside yard on Saturday 29 April 1907. This was clearly seen as a very formal occasion. The impressive array of hats catches the eye - I have yet to spot a single person without one!
