Plans of HMS Dreadnought

These plans show the first all-big gun battleship to enter service, HMS Dreadnought. Although the Dreadnought was a revolutionary design, she did have some flaws, including the layout of the turrets, which only allowed eight of her ten guns to fire on the broadside and the position of the tripod mast behind the forward funnel. This meant that the fire control platform was badly affected by smoke.

The next two classes - the Bellerophon class (Bellerophon, Temeraire and Superb) and the St. Vincent class (Collingwood, St. Vincent and Vanguard) followed the same basic layout, with changes of detail only.
