Propeller and Rudder of HMAS Vampire

Propeller and Rudder of HMAS Vampire

Here we see the propellers and rudder for the V class flotilla leader HMS Vampire, probably while she was in the dry dock at Malta in March 1940. On the port propeller we can also the the mounting that secured it to the hull, and the drive shaft heading back into the ship.

This picture comes from the collection of the Australian War Memorial, and is in the public domain.
