Grumman XF5F-1 Skyrocket in flight
Here we see the prototype Grumman XF5F-1 Skyrocket, a very fast aircraft for its time, and with features that made it very suitable for use as a carrier borne fighter. However the twin engined configuration counted against it and it didn't enter production. Notice the unusual layout, with a central fuselage that ends before the front of the wing centre section.
