Focke Wulf Fw 190A-3 in British Hands

Here we see Focke Wulf Fw 190A-3, werk nr.313, the first Fw 190 to fall intact into Allied hands after its pilot, Oberleutnant Armin Faber, Gruppenadjutant of III/ JG.2 got confused about his location and landed at RAF Pembrey in Carmarthenshire on 23 June 1942. This picture was taken before the aircraft was sent to the RAE at Farnborough where it was repainted in British colours and given an RAF serial number (MP499). This lucky capture helped the RAF get to grips with the new Fw 190, which outclassed the existing Spitfire models when it entered service.
