Bristol Bullet on Felixstowe/ Porte Baby

Here we see a Bristol Scout on top of the three engined Felixstowe/ Port Baby flying boat. These aircraft carried out one of the first tests of the idea of a 'piggy back fighter' when Flight Sub Lieutenant Day succesfully launched the Scout at 2,000ft above Felixstowe on 17 May 1916. The Bristol aircraft is sometimes identified as a Bristol Bullet, but this was a monoplane, not a biplane as seen here.
