Here we see a Douglas C-54 Skymaster of the US Army Air Forces Tropical Science Mission at Mombasa, Kenya, in April 1946 from the front, showing its clear resemblance to the standard design of post-war airlines, with the fuselage level while on the ground and a tricycle undercarriage.
Many thanks to Michael Hopkins for sending us these pictures, which came from his father's collection, and came towards the end of his RAF service, which lasted from August 1941 to November 1946.
