Here we see the first Curtiss Model J, Army serial number 29, before it went to the Army. This version of the aircraft used Curtiss Shoulder-Yoke Aileron controls, and the framework for those controls can be see at the back of the rear cockpit, as can the top of the steering while, used to control the rudder.
