This photograph was captioned as showing the last two Consolidated Catalinas leaving Mombasa, on the Kenyan coast heading north-west to RAF Kisumu, on the north-eastern tip of Lake Victoria in August 1946. From this angle the parasol wing of the Catalina stands out.
Many thanks to Michael Hopkins for sending us these pictures, which came from his father's collection, and came towards the end of his RAF service, which lasted from August 1941 to November 1946.
