British and Greek raiders on Symi, 1944
Here we see two men from the joint British and Greek force that raided the Aegean island of Symi on 13-15 July 1944, capturing or killing almost the entire German garrison. The raid was carried out by the Special Boat Squadron and the Greek Sacred Band, and although the original wartime caption doesn't say so, one can assume that this picture shows one man from each force. The raid was a total success and convinced the Germans to reinforce their garrisons across the Aegean.
