Bombed Canal Bridge, Caen
Here we see a canal bridge over the Caen Canal that had been destroyed by British bombers in order to prevent the Germans using it to move troops out of Caen to Vaucelles. That probably places the bombing to the period of Operation Charnwood, in which the centre of the city was taken, but broken bridges stopped the Allies from getting any further.
