Baback & Wilcox Boilers for Clemson Class Destroyers

Baback & Wilcox Boilers for Clemson Class Destroyers
This picture gives some idea of the scale of American warship production during the First World War, showing several rows of Babcock and Wilcox boilers ready to go into Clemson class destroyers, including USS Childs (DD-241), USS King (242) and USS Sands (DD-243). Each destroyer needed four boilers, so there are enough here for at least twenty ships!
