Allied Flags on the Town Hall, Cherbourg
Here we see three Allied flags flying from the town hall at Cherbourg, which fell to a mainly American force in late June 1944. Only the US flag can be clearly identified in this shot, while the flag on the left could be the Australian or New Zealand flag or a British naval ensign.
