Air Defence Position, USS West Virginia (BB-48)
Here we see lookouts in the starboard air defence position on the Colorodo class battleship USS West Virginia (BB-48) off Le Shima on 16 April 1945. Their binoculars are carried in mounts that let them read off angle and elevation of any target, which can then be passed up the chain.
