USS Warrington (DD-383) in Perles Bay
Here we see a frontal view of the Somers class destroyer USS Warrington (DD-383) in Perles Bay on 23 April 1943. The US Navy caption places this in the Panama Canal Zone. That name doesn't seem to appear on modern maps, but it was probably used to describe the area in the Bay of Panama occupied by the Islas de las Perlas (Pearl Islands). This frontal view also helps demonstrate just how much more complex destroyers had become since First World War era flush-deckers designs with their single forward gun and simple two layer bridges.
