Collision Damage to USS Thornton (AVD-11)
Here we see the damage suffered by the Clemson class destroyer USS Thornton (AVD-10) when she was rammed by the Ashtabula (AO-51) in 1945. Here we can see the shape of the Ashtabula's bow pushed into the side of the destroyer, allowing water into the hull.
