Here we see the Wickes class destroyer USS Talbot (APD-7) coming alongside USS Chandeleur (AV-10) to refuel, on 6 April 1943, early in her deployment in the Pacific after being converted to a fast transport. The number of crew members on deck gives some idea of how cramped conditions must have been on these converted destroyers.
