This censored photograph shows the Fletcher class destroyer USS Spence (DD-512) in San Francisco Bay in early October 1944, after a refit and overhaul. She departed for Pearl Harbor on 5 October, so the picture must be before that date. The censors have removed her radar antenna, a common feature of pictures released during the war.
