USS Southard (DMS-10), Mare Island, 9 June 1942
Here we see the Clemson class destroyer USS Southard (DMS-10) at Mare Island on 9 June 1942, after she had been converted into a high speed minesweeper. At this point she still had four funnels and her original guns, but by 1943 one funnel had gone, and the original guns had been replaced with AA guns.
