USS South Dakota (BB-57) being fitted out
Here we see the South Dakota class battleship USS South Dakota (BB-57) while she was being fitted out at New York Shipbuilding of Camden on 1 October 1941. Note the covered wooden frame that has been built over the massive gap left for one of her main turrets.
