USS Smith Thompson (DD-212) being scuttled, 25 July 1936
Here we see the Clemson class destroyer USS Smith Thompson (DD-212) being scuttled off Subic Bay on 25 July 1936. She had been rammed amidships by the USS Whipple (DD-217) on 14 April 1936, and towed to safety at Subic Bay by 17 April, but the damage was judged to be too severe to be worth repairing, and it was decided to sink her.
