USS Saratoga (CV-3) at Pearl Harbor, 6 June 1942
Here we see the Lexington class carrier USS Saratoga (CV-3) arriving at Pearl Harbor on 6 June 1942, carrying fresh aircraft from the West Coast. The Saratoga had been rushed west in the hope she could arrive in time for the battle of Midway, but arrived too late. Instead she was used to ferry replacement aircraft to the Enterprise and Hornet, to replace those lost in the battle.
