Colour picture of USS Sangamon (CVE-26)
This colour photograph shows the escort carrier USS Sangamon (CVE-26), probably somewhere in the South Pacific in 1943. Note the row of gun pods alongside her flight deck, designed to allow her to carry a good amount of anti-aircraft gun below flight-deck level.
