USS Sands (APD-13) in 1944
Here we see the Clemson class destroyer USS Sands (APD-13) as a fast transport in 1944. Note the anti-aircraft guns on the rear deck house, the extra boats to land her troops, and four ladders to give access to those boats when they were moored alongside the ship.
