Above view of USS Porter (DD-356) at Mare Island
Here we see the Porter class destroyer USS Porter (DD-356) from above while she was at the Mare Island Navy Base on 13 November 1941. She is alongside the barge YF259. Soon after this she must have departed for Pearl Harbor, as she was there two days before the Japanese attack. From this angle we get a good view from above of one of her quad torpedo tubes, while just to the right we can see the base for one of her anti-aircraft guns, in the lower half of the first raised platform (the port side). The starboard gun is still installed, but is covered.
