Fuelling F9F Panthers, USS Philippine Sea (CV-47)
Here we see a Grumman F9F-2 Panther of VF-111 being refueled on the flight deck of the Essex class carrier USS Philippine Sea (CV-47) off Korea on 19 October 1950. Although the straight wing of the Panther reduced its performance, it did make it easier to get a ladder up the wing to refuel the wingtip tank!
