Here we see the port 5in/ 25 guns on USS Northampton (CA-26), the name ship of the Northampton Class of Heavy Cruisers , taking part in the bombardment of either Wotje Atoll or Maloelap Atoll in the Marshall Islands on 1 February 1942. The open gun positions look rather dated.
